Yang Han Wen

Artist Introduction

Yang Han Wen is a Singapore based artist. Her artworks involve combining stacked objects and entwined lines to explore the interconnectedness, influence, and balance between human relationships. Her work delves into the diverse array of beauty standards imposed on women, with a keen desire to challenge and unlearn these impossible social norms. She encourages viewers to reflect on their own perceptions of beauty on the human form. Her work largely revolves around social and mental issues, in particular beauty standards and its impact on female physical autonomy. She aims to challenge societal norms and promote self-acceptance and comfort in one’s body.

Yang Han Wen graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts with a Diploma in Fine Art Printmaking, and achieved her BA (Hons) Fine Art Practice from University of Central Lancashire in 2021. She has showcased her work in the public showcase ‘World’s 50 Best Restaurants’ held by the Singapore Tourism Board in 2019, ‘Towards Unlearning’ at Gajah Gallery, and ‘Moving Plate’ at Mulan Gallery in 2021. Her works have also been featured by <Class Acts Zine> at National Design Centre Singapore and <Open Print Exchange Catalogue> in Cologne, Germany.
